Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 10/11/2018

Number: 1

One 2nd instar larva on Asclepias viridis. Today was our first chilly morning since April. Low was 57, high was 71. Out of the 28 milkweed I’ve been observing since June 2018, there are 6 left in good condition this late in the season. The chilly morning temps and shorter days will soon have an affect on cats and milkweed.
All observations here are from the Parks at Town Hall in Keller Tx. Props to the city for establishing no-mow areas and wildflower meadows behind the town hall and along trails!
