We have a lot of milkweed on our property & I recently noticed numerous larva on some of the plants. Some are nearly full size while others are smaller, & yet others look like they recently hatched. I was amazed! I've also seen numerous adult Monarchs flying overhead during the past several weeks & including the week I found the larva so there must be some stragglers!
