This was the last consecutive day we have seen a Monarch this season. She flew over late afternoon in a southwest direction. It was an unseasonably hot, sunshiny 29C Thanksgiving day. We were harvesting some organic beets for our Thanksgiving dinner. My son shouted, "Monarch!" and I saw her glide over the garden and out of the yard. Every day since our first report on May 22 we have seen at least one Monarch. I apologise for not reporting each and every one. We saw at least one per day and as many as 30 on some days throughout Essex County. It has been a banner year! I hope this last girl makes it to Mexico and her grandchildren find their way back to our Milkweed. Still some native nectar sources around: Goldenrod pretty much done; New England Asters are still in bloom as well as the white asters (name unknown.)
