5 Monarchs in my yard today (Waystation 04511) (41 N 70 W). About to rain, strong SW winds and then turn cold - below 50’s. Dismal chances for these monarchs but at least they are enjoying the feast of asters, goldenrods etc. before it rains again.
I had been expecting a great fall migration in the Northeast because such a great reproductive season. However, not enough sunny days in a row with good wind directions but monarchs are still trying.
But despite being disappointed about the NE migration, I am greatly cheered up by reading about the fulsome migration in Oklahoma and Texas. Go monarchs go!
