Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/17/2018

Number: 1

46° today and had'nt see any RTH for a week now.
Sadly, time to take down the five feeders...and fighting off wasps!
Reached up for the third feeder...and I heard..then saw...could'nt believe
what I was seeing! A female RTH...
fussing at me for taking her food!!
Felt like a deer caught in headlights...barely breathing while she sat there drinking. She did'nt even appear to be bothered that I was standing just inches away from her!
As soon as she finished and flew up into our maple tree I took all the feeders back inside..
Cleaned..refilled and rehung them all.
Don't know how long this little darling will be here. But as long as she is I'll
keep "her" feeders filled with fresh nectar until the time comes when she decides to move on to her wintering spot. where she'll be safe...warm...
and definitely missed until she returns next year.
