Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 10/17/2018

Number: 20

Haven't seen any Monarchs flying around since the cold front moved through TX. Every day here has been chilly in the 50s and dreary. I did, however, find about 20-25 Monarch caterpillars happily eating or resting on the milkweed, all of them between 2nd and 5th instar with the majority being in 3rd or 4th instar. I have plenty of milkweed to keep them fed, thankfully, as the waystation is quite large. But there were a few caterpillars I had to move to other milkweed plants that still had nice, big leaves as they had eaten the milkweed bare in certain areas.
