I counted 12 monarchs this afternoon nectaring on our butterfly bushes. They spent most of the afternoon in a feeding frenzy. The goldenrod has already bloomed so I was glad to have a good number of butterfly bushes in full bloom. I also observed several more in Tupelo this morning. I suppose south winds in advance of an approaching cold front slowed their journey south. So happy to send this report. Sightings were few in September but have picked up after the first decent cold front moved through the day after Michael made landfall in the FL panhandle.
