Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/19/2018

Number: 20

This morning, sunny, but a breezy 55 degrees, I went out and saw a Monarch lift off from the Tithonia patch, circle and head to the SW. A few minutes later, I counted five, and two more coming in over the house. All told, the most count today was about 20 Monarchs or so, with a Buckeye, two American ladies, two + Long Tailed Skippers, and two Red-spotted Purples. Later in the day came a female Tiger Swallowtail, a little faded, but very active. She moved from nectaring to the Magnolia virginiana and oviposited several eggs, one of which was within reach and was brought inside.
