Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/20/2018

Number: 1

This morning I was working in my yard. It was in the 50s. I was cutting off the tops of bulbs that I take in each year. As I started to cut off a top over my yard waste garbage can I looked down and there was a female monarch resting on a branch in the can. Last week I had seen a group of three monarchs and thought that was a late sighting for my area. So this sighting is really late. I placed my finger under her legs and lifted her to my butterfly bush which still has blooms. She remained there about fifteen minutes and then flew away. Tonight it is going to be forty seven here and tomorrow in the thirties. I hope she is heading south and that it warms up for her.
