Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/22/2018

Number: 1

I have not observed a monarch butterfly the last seven days. The weather has been windy, rainy, and 4 days of morning frost. Temperatures have been in the low twenties (27F.) to highs of mid to upper forties (47F.). So I was surprised to see a female monarch fly onto white aster flowers at the 2/3rd Street fields on my 2 mile walk. I was able to net and tag it. Tag is YGN-974. I took it home and put it in my marigold garden and took a picture before she flew off heading due south. Today the weather was 100% sunshine with the wind WSW-7-10 mph and the temperature 55F.
