After two weeks of chilly, rainy days, the sun came out and warmer temps blew in ... and so did some monarchs! Around 2pm I saw 3 on my way to our local post office two miles from home. They were nectaring on roadside wildflowers. The temperature was 72 degrees F with sunny skies and a gentle WNW breeze.

At 4pm I was at the Montgomery Library (about eight miles from home) and went out by their pond, which has walking trails, a stream, trees, and lots of flowers. In the specially designed Butterfly Garden, I saw quite a few Gulf fritillary butterflies and 2 monarchs.

About 5:30 pm when I had a chance to be home, I went walking in our pasture and saw 1 monarch nectaring on flowering milkweed (Asclepius viridis). The monarchs I saw today were the first I had seen since spring...so a real delight!
