Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 11/07/2018

Number: 1

This morning, we were watching deer cross the western meadow from the back porch. Dressed for "Texas cold" (50 degrees), we held hot coffee cups wrapped in our hands. Then, there she was. A lone female hummingbird flitted from turk's cap bloom to bloom. She was incredibly healthy and robust, looking like a fluffy golf ball.

She returned three times during the day. I spent much of that time trying to get a photo of her. I think she was playing a game with me. I think she moved on sometime in mid-afternoon.
