Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 11/10/2018

Number: 1

I left my feeders up late because I read an article about Rufous hummingbirds being sighted in unusual locations during winter. Just when I considered taking the feeders down my husband and I saw a hummer at the feeder. My guess is it was a juvenile male Rufous. His colored throat feathers had not come in completely and was orange only on one side. From behind as he sat on the feeder you could see the orange color on his tail. I've never ever seen one in person and he was definitely not a Ruby or a Black Chinned like we get every year. We saw him around 1:50 PM on 11-10-2018 and once again around 2:20 PM. I will try to get a photo if I see him again.
