Found this late-flying, lonely Monarch Butterfly in a group of Gregg’s Mist Flower plants, which were as exhausted as the butterfly from hundreds of recent visits from Queen butterflies and 27 degree temperature last night. It was trying to feed on an empty, folded bloom. I put it on a Christmas Cactus plant (see picture) on my closed front porch to protect it from the cold tonight; but in the morning I will place it on one of the Elaeagus plants in the front, which are in full bloom and have a multitude of butterfly visitors feasting on all the “sweet stuff”!! It will be able to reenergize (I hope) and continue its solitary trip south.
