Retrieved about 1 1/2 dozen eggs in mid December. Provided milkweed and all hatched as Caterpillars. Observed the creation of cocoons and eventually released all butterflies by January 7, 2019. Grandkids observed same and became very interested in re-creating a permanent waystation and habitat. We have planted a Monarch Butterfly Garden with milkweed and pollinators for adult butterflies. Thanks!
