Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 01/24/2019

Number: 6

We had temps in 30s two nights in a row and many caterpillars seem to have disappeared. But the six I located this afternoon look healthy and are eating. I have 13 others inside, 10 of which are in chrysalides. Actually 2 are Queens. Some of them I have brought in when severe weather threatened, a couple turned up on the compost heap after I had cut back milkweed. I do notice that none of the caterpillars or butterflies are as large as their summer cousins were.
