Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/02/2019

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports a group of robins gathered on the common area behind my townhouse to feed in the grass, along with some scattered red-winged blackbirds and juncos. The view out the patio door only allows a small section of the grass visible. Later in the same day a flock of males were seen in the same lawn area, about 2 dozen. Weather was sunny and mild for winter. Lots of activity on and off all day by squirrels, Carolina wrens, robins, various sparrows and finches hopping about in the lawn areas and surrounding trees as well as in the small back yard facing south. North side of house is just too shady for them this time of year.
