Number: 1

With all the flooding around here I was expecting, even hoping for more activity in the well drained compost pile as I prepared my native flower beds But I was disappointed Image my surprise when I dug at the mucky bottom of the hill relocating the too enthusiastic Boltonia away from the bird feeders and found it teeming! I was I could identify species The size differences are substantial At a bait shop some could’ve been sold as “night crawlers” but most are more like the “red wigglers”. I wonder how many breeders are propagating invasive species? These are practically swimming to get together and create a population explosion that’ll keep the birds and blooms happy this year. No wonder the robins are coming down from the trees No pics from yesterday But there were at least 3 lithe and lively under every rock this morning The slowest one gave me time to focus one-handed
