I was hiking through the four inches of recent snow on the east side of Reynolds Pond in Coventry, when I caught the most welcome sound of maybe half a dozen red-winged blackbirds!

The day was mostly cloudy, temperatures in the mid-40s, with more snow forecast for the evening. I tried to get a visual but the lighting just wasn't right.
