At about 7:30 a.m. I received a phone call from a friend letting me know she had seen a bald eagle sitting in one of my 70' sycamores in my front yard--just 50 yards from the highway! Of course, the eagle saw me outside before I saw him/her. But it flew past me quite low and just above the roof of my house before flying away in a southerly direction--possibly to Diggs' Wildlife Area. By the way, my 3.6 acres has been declared a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, so there are plenty of squirrels, rabbits and doves for that eagle, in case it returns to hunt again.
