Visiting New Braunfels TX we found 29 monarchs in a short period of time nectaring on Texas Mountain Laurel trees in bloom in the area. Most were near dry wash crossings versus near the river access. Most monarchs were males with no ovipositing females seen nor milkweed up in the area we walked. All the monarchs were old and worn with a good number tattered as well. Most were nectaring on the Texas Mountain Laurel flowers but some were flying high above the trees as well.
