Signs of Spring

Date: 03/18/2019

Number: 1

Lots of mating calls being heard. Northern Cardinal, Mourning Dove, Red-winged Blackbird, even Downey Woodpecker tapping.

Heard first Killdeers' distress calls last night from the farm field. I am troubled that this year will be another unsuccessful year for our killdeers as our Humane Society has now decided that even if you take a nuisance cat to them they will not dispatch it but instead will secretly return it back to your yard. They keep playing this game as often as you take the cat to them, they will return it to you in some sort of perpetual iteration of the movie Groundhog Day. We currently have 3 feral cats in the yard and I have no solution for removing them from the environment.
