This was the first monarch sighting of this year for me. I know it was quite early and I was very surprised, but I have been interested in butterflies for about 65 years now and I know clearly know a question mark, viceroy and red admiral. You can be assured that the identification was accurate.
Milkweed is just beginning to emerge in a few areas near me. We have A. tuberosa, A. syriaca, A. viridis, A. incarnata and A. viridiflora all growing on our farm (and, to some extent, in surrounding areas). I think that it was just an aberrancy (and it might be removed from the gene pool as a result).
