Around 4:20pm on March 21st, I was walking to my car to my car on the Cosumnes River College campus. I saw a bunch of little butterflies flying and stopped to observe. They appeared to be baby monarchs. They were all flying what seemed to be North West. My cars front was parked South so observing from my car, they all flew towards me. I stayed for a half hour to watch and left at around 4:50pm. Some of them appeared to have been coming from the hedge behind Crcs pool. (I was parked between the back end of crcs pool and in the middle of soccer fields 4 & 5. I believe the lot was lot H).
Within that thirty minutes, I had to have saw over 100. They came constantly, some flew close together but others spread out. It was hard to get footage since the camera on my phone can’t see as much as the naked eye and they were forsure not adults, however I did get a few shots.
I exited from the schools main entrance on the east side of campus, to turn onto bruceville road. Leaving the school I saw a few more here and there, but not as many as the location I was parked.
