I was out moss collecting in some damp woods in Plano, Texas (two towns north of Dallas), and spotted three Monarchs. All looked faded, but were too far and too fast to sex.
Two were wafting through the still largely leafless woods where there are some blooming trees, and other spring blooming plants like Packera and Violets, and one was in an open grassy area.
I have not seen any wild milkweed sprouting yet.
