Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/25/2019

Number: 13

We returned to Miller County, AR road 54 to see if we could find any more monarchs in the area where we had seen them yesterday. We were able to count 13 from about 1:00 to 1:45. They were in a sunny patch along the road feeding on Henbit. The monarchs we saw today were all more faded than the ones we saw on Sunday.

Haven't seen any native milkweed in our area yet and we have been looking (there is some tropical milkweed in a very protected area of our front flower bed that has some new growth but its not enough to feed one caterpillar). We did see females in the group yesterday and they seemed to be searching for milkweed. We will keep looking and let you know as soon as we see any. We have had several days of sunny, warm weather so maybe by the end of the week we will find some.
