Loved seeing many monarchs today, when I had opportunities to go about and look around. I also saw several on my trip to the post office about 3 miles away.

From about 11am to 12 noon I walked about and saw many interesting monarch activities. It was 68 degrees F, cloudy, breezy with 8mph wind from the SE, and with 71% humidity. I observed females fluttering low looking for milkweed. Of course, they could suddenly lift up and sail across the pasture with the wind and be looking in a completely new area much faster than I could move! They sometimes nectared on wildflowers or rested and sunned with wings outspread. I saw a torn-wing female that I had seen yesterday. Today she was nectaring on blackberry blossoms between sessions looking for milkweed.
There were males nectaring and sailing around... sometimes the females hid in the grass briefly when they flew by. They seemed to have a sixth sense about this. I saw that even more milkweed was up. Some was fresh with no eggs, but some new sprouts already had eggs ~ monarch females are very good!

This is a photo of one of the beautiful female monarchs seen today, as she found precious milkweed to lay her eggs on. There are multiple smaller sprouts nearby, which she also laid eggs on ~ wonderful!
