Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/07/2019

Number: 1

Saw adult monarch, first of the year, flying north across our field.

I’ve been raising monarchs for over 3 years and I know the look alikes pretty well. I’m sure it was a monarch.

April 8: I am not seeing any milkweed to date, which is so worrying. I’m hoping it was a male that I saw. Can’t imagine how hard it is for females to have eggs that need to be laid and not find any host plants. We don’t normally (last few years) see monarchs before the end of May, so yesterday’s sighting was a shocker!
