A pair of Mallards wandering around the back yard about an hour after sunrise probably looking for a nest site. Thought it was a fluke and they might move on but they have been back three days in a row at the same time. Starting to get excited now (Thursday) We have never had a nest before. Large drainage ditch with year round water and an extensive riparian zone about 25 metres to the west -- across one of the busiest roads in the county. Will let you know if there are any developments.
