When coming in from garden weeding late in the day saw a male ruby-throat fly into and then back out of my garage. The sun was low in the sky and really made his red throat color almost glow as he was flying from east to west.
Lived in this house on a wooded lot by a lake 25 years. Have been feeding the hummers most of the time since we built the house. Once we see the nesting female in the spring it is hard to catch sight of her until after she has her first offspring but the nectar gets consumed. Put up multiple feeders for the southern migration.
