Observed 65 monarchs at Rick Evans Grandview Prairie from 3:20 - 5:00 P.M. They were feeding on the rose Vervain growing along the roadways. There were still no visible signs of milkweed in the areas we were searching. Most of the butterflies were males and were intent on feeding.
We did take some photos - there were a lot of butterflies besides the monarchs there. Am attaching a couple of the pictures we took - they look a lot like others we have sent because rose Vervain is the most abundant nectar plant there now.
