Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/14/2019

Number: 6

Yesterday, there were strong thunderstorms with high winds here, while across Texas there were damaging tornadoes and hailstorms.

Today, on Palm Sunday, I went out to collect milkweed leaves for the indoor caterpillars (always growing and needing more). At 11:30am it was 61 degrees F, sunny, with 46% humidity, and strong winds from the northwest. I saw 6 monarchs flying, resting & sunning, and nectaring.

Three of the indoor-raised monarch caterpillars (brought in as larvae from outdoors) became chrysalises today ~ the first ones to do so.

This is a photo of one of the monarchs resting in deep grass, getting some warm sunlight and getting out of the strong winds.
