Number: 7

A lovely sunny Easter Sunday, quite warm and windy here. I was able to go walking about at 1:30pm with the temperature at 80 degrees F and humidity at 41%. I observed 7 monarchs at that time. They were nectaring from the yellow thistles, flying about, and one female was egg-laying. Throughout the afternoon I noted monarchs flying around the house and yard.

In checking the milkweed I continue to see fresh eggs as well as monarch caterpillars. I also continue to see ants, spiders, and various bugs on some of the milkweed. I also see other types of caterpillars on the milkweed and on nearby plants.

This is a photo of one of the wonderful male monarchs (tattery wings and all) nectaring from a fresh bloom on the yellow thistle plant ~ getting tattery itself!
