Today was a rainy day on and off, including very strong thunderstorms in the evening. In mid-afternoon around 3:30pm it was 71 degrees F, cloudy, with 91% humidity, and breezes from the SE. I wasn't seeing any monarchs flying, but I did inadvertently discover a male monarch resting in the tall grass near some milkweeds. This is a photo of him showing his slightly faded and worn wings ~ a happy sight for me on these days when monarchs are few and far between.
