Last year 11 Barn Swallows were attacked and carried off by a slightly injured rogue Hawk, along with all their babies. I remember one lonely female leaving the barn one day
On 4/15 I saw a Barn Swallow flying around and then very high up in the sky. Then nothing for 2 days.
I thought maybe she had decided to go elsewhere to find a mate and nest.
Lo and behold on 4/27 she returns with a mate. They are nesting in this barn. I hope the colony will again grow to it's original size in the next few years.
