Monarch Waystation #271 reports 1st ruby-throat, male, seen as it headed towards the Wild Columbine planted in the front bed. It flew over my left shoulder while I knelt weeding, then when I looked up he backed off from the blooms, turned and looked me over. The sun hit his throat as he turned and it a flashed brilliant red. I guess he decided I was too close and he took off west towards the neighbor's yard and disappeared around the corner in a flash.
