Hummingbird, Other Observations

Date: 05/02/2019

Number: 6

After having only 2 confirmed males for days, the rest of the "tribe' appear to have arrived. I am unsure of exact number, but can confirm that at least 4 males and 2 females were at my feeders simultaneously. After watching pairs of the males at the same feeder not competing for the syrup...all of a sudden 2 of them began fighting in earnest! They appeared as a single "ball" of feathers and were drifting to the ground while still entangled...I quickly went outside and my presence broke up the fight! neither appears to have suffered any real damage, but, although I have seen aggression before, this was a first. They each retired to adjacent twigs, and later returned to eat
at separate feeders.
