Having already sighted three northward bound migrating male Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, this is the FIRST female we have seen. She was quite small but definitely thirsty as she ventured back and forth between two feeders resting for several minutes between feeder visits. After her third feeder visit she stopped at a hanging basket of blooming petunias then flew off eastward toward a 5 acre woods a quarter mile away. The time was 9:40am, with temperature at 49 degrees, cloudy conditions, and slight breeze of 4 mph out of the NE.
