We're seeing a flush of new Monarchs coming through North Texas now. I had three eclose over the weekend from some eggs laid in Plano, TX that were given to me from somebody that had egg dumping a couple weeks ago. On a three hour walk at a park on Saturday, we kept seeing fresh adults--including one male who was clearly patrolling a territory. There is a good supply of milkweed up and blooming at that park, and I keep seeing unusually large and robust plants of Green Milkweed (Asclepias viridis) this year. I think that might be due to two consecutive years of ample rainfall.
So, lots of first gen Monarchs are here, three towns north of Dallas, right now.
