Found 17 more monarch kids today--2 or 3 were eggs? Most were 2nd instars. One just molted into 3rd instar in the container. So this is a bit late to be reporting an egg (we got the heck out of town for graduation weekend when these were probably eggs) but I figured it was worth noting anyway.
