Unclear how many there were at the first sighting on May 3 - only saw one at a time. Tonight (May 8) I sat and watched the feeder from 7 pm to 8 pm. One female showed up a bit past 7 and stayed around until it got quite dark - 8 pm. She sat on a small branch about 6 feet from the feeder, and flew over to feed probably 20 times. I wish I had counted. I did not expect her to stay that long. She didn’t preen much, just a bit toward the end. Mostly just sat. Never seen such a sedentary hummingbird! So happy to see her but sad she was alone. I have homemade sugar water in the feeder - 1/2 cup sugar to 2 cups water.
