Hummingbird, Other Observations

Date: 05/11/2019

Number: 2

Around 7 PM, I was an unintentional bystander in the middle of a Ruby Throat's "Dive Display." A male RT has been trying to capture the attention of the little female who arrived yesterday. As I was pulling weeds near "her feeder" the two hummers appeared and she landed on the ground by the boxwood shrubs, (near my feet). At that time, Mr. Initiated his "U shaped" dive display--lasting several seconds, and approaching a height of 20 feet. When done--he flew west. Several moments after his departure, the little female flew north, and then returned to "her feeder."
