We are in Honolulu, Hawaii to attend our grand daughter's UHI graduation-yesterday (very proud of her work in that she will be continuing banding shore birds for environmental influences and migration patterns) and while enjoying The Foster Arboretum today a monarch flew by - I was very surprised! Somehow I didn't expect to see them here. Later while walking through the gardens we realized they had a butterfly garden with less tropical plants on the grounds but saw no butterflies in that area but it was mid day and quite hot.
