Signs of Spring

35 degrees in the forest this morning, 10 turkey hens are sharing / eating peanut splits, sunflower seeds and corn with 12 baby squirrels. The turkey hens will soon be hatching chicks. A turkey hen may have 10 or more chicks. They’ll bring their chicks with them, and we’ll have an army of “bug hunters” :) carefully crossing pastures, lawns.. No pesticides are used here. The large song bird population of rose breasted grosbeaks, Orioles, blue jays, Cardinals, tit mice, chickadees, robins, blue birds, etc. consume thousands of bugs—allowing all my flowers (think hummingbird bait :) to be pesticide.
