A scarlet tanager surprised me as I sat down near the nature center I go to in Madison Heights, MI. First, it was high in the tree and I could only get its backside photographed and then it came down to the shade, and took a little surprise splash in a stream off a pond. It was unfortunately hidden by too many rocks and I couldn't get a good shot of it there, however.
