Around 2 p.m. I noticed a Monarch in my backyard. It continuously flew around the yard and would land on various Milkweed plants briefly. At first I thought it was a female ovipositing. After watching it for several minutes I realized it was actually patrolling behavior of a male. I finally was able to get close enough to him to see for certain that it was definitely a male. He was here for the two hours I was back there.
