Yesterday afternoon, May 20, we were out looking for milkweed in a prairie area west of Slater, Iowa, on the north side of the Heart of Iowa Trail. We found numerous sprouts from 2 to 5 inches high, and on seven of these, we found a single Monarch egg on each.
