During the first 23 days of May, there were 14 days that were too cool, wet, windy, or stormy for monarchs to arrive in Hastings. The first one that I’ve seen this year finally joined us today. She appeared to be somewhat faded, but not tattered. She immediately laid at least six eggs on the common milkweed in our yard.
