Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/26/2019

Number: 3

Observed three adults, all of which likely had flown across Lake Huron from Michigan in past three days. May 24 warm 15C. May 25 cold and rainy. May 26 warm likely 16C. Two adults were observed laying eggs. Third adult was flying around the milkweed shoots and sometimes landing. Likely was a male.
These are my first sightings of 2019. Season on Manitoulin to Sudbury appears 1-2 weeks behind.
Patches of milkweed in Sudbury - about 142 km to the NE of Manitoulin do not have milkweed shoots breaking surface on this date. No adult monarchs observed. Season likely 1-2 weeks late.
