Noticed this monarch flitting about in a field while mowing. Took a number of pictures, but couldn't get close enough to see what it was doing. On examination there was young milkweed just coming up in different spots. This is the earliest I have seen monarchs in this area. We are at 1,450 ft elevation so seasons are a little later
